Marbled Chocolate Covered Strawberries are 3 colored chocolates swizzle dipped onto luscious, ripe red, seasonal fruit. It makes a spectacularly beautiful and delicious homemade gift. Here’s a way to have some fun and get the kids involved!
Who doesn’t love Marbled Chocolate Covered Strawberries? OK, maybe a couple of people…but for me, I absolutely love the crunchy, melt- in-your-mouth yummy chocolate shell and the fresh, sweet, juicy strawberry underneath. I could eat them for dessert or a snack anytime of year.
But, I also love giving them away as gifts to friends and family. But dipping the ripe red fruit in liquid dark chocolate isn’t cutting it anymore. You have to mix it up a little!
So, I decided to marble them with chocolate candy melts instead. The wonderful thing about these chocolate candy melts, is they come in a variety of colors. Plus, all you have to do is microwave them and you’re ready to begin the process. Then, just drizzle a couple of colors over your base color, and voilà, marbling occurs! It is so much fun (after you get the hang of it)!
Now, to be completely frank (because I’m always honest), it does take a couple of flops before you get it right. It’s kind of like the first pancake that you always have to throw away. But the good news is, with these Marbled Chocolate Covered Strawberries, you can still eat the luscious rejects!
And, kids love to get in on the action too. They love drizzling the multiple chocolates into fun and crazy patterns and they also adore the dunking. It really is a fun-cooking extravaganza to do with the kiddies.
So, this weekend, head out to your favorite farmer’s market and pick up a lovely carton of fresh strawberries. Then, pick out various colors for your favorite team, season or occasion, and hop to it! You’re going to make SO many people, SO very happy! Enjoy!
- Line a baking sheet with wax paper.
- Place the 3 different colored chocolate discs into separate glass bowls and melt in the microwave according to package instructions (I did it a minute at a time at 50% power, stirring each time). Drizzle (using a whisk or spoon) a few tablespoons second and third colors onto the base color and do not stir (see photos above).
- One at a time, fully dip the strawberries into the base color, twisting and turning as you remove them to create marbled patterns. Allow the excess to drip off, then set on the prepared baking sheet. Re-drizzle with the second and third colors over the top again, before you dip another strawberry each time. When done, refrigerate the dipped strawberries for at least 15 minutes to harden.
