This Outrageous rich Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Biscotti is made from premade banana bread that started with a cake mix. It is ridiculously yummy and simple to make!
I really enjoy eating biscotti. Whoooa, calm down girl, don’t oversell it! The reason I don’t do backflips over it (like I do most other desserts) is that biscotti’s usually rock hard, tasteless, and can break your teeth if you’re not careful. Dessert that can cause discomfort is not high on my list.
So, when my friend Sharon told me about this recipe on Food Network’s The Kitchen, I knew I had to try it. The hosts RAVED on and on about the taste and mentioned it was the perfect texture. Plus, the best part is you create this recipe by initially making Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bread, using a cake mix. Then, you simply cut slices off of the loaf and half them again horizontally. After slicing, you drizzle them with a little honey and then bake them a little bit longer in the oven, real low & slow.
When they’re finished cooking, you place them on a cooling rack and they crisp up a little more. This leaves you with the perfect bite of deliciously, crispy (but now hard) chocolaty biscotti. It is rich and moist from the banana and amazingly chocolaty with a hint of peanut butter. They’re perfect for dunking in your favorite cup of coffee, like our Cold Brewed Vanilla Iced Coffee.
Now, I’ve tried other people’s homemade biscotti before, but I never found a recipe that I was tempted to make at home. So, when I saw how excited everyone was about the taste of these biscotti, needless to say, I could hardly wait to make this recipe. Plus, you actually get 2 desserts with hardly any effort at all! Both turned out scrumptious and I’m excited for you to try it!
All right everyone…get ready to make wonderfully moist and decadent Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bread and then slice it up for the best Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Biscotti that’ll rock your world (not your teeth)!
- 1 loaf Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bread (click for recipe)
- ¼ cup honey
- Preheat the oven to 300 °F. Place a cooling rack on top of a baking sheet.
- Slice the Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bread loaf across the middle horizontally (this way you don’t have to cut each piece like I did in the picture above). Then, slice the loaf into thin pieces that are about 1 inch thick each. Lightly brush one side of each slice with honey and place on the cooling rack.
- Bake until golden and crispy, about 40 minutes. Take out of the oven and cool on the rack for at least 10 minutes. The biscotti will become crispier as they cool.
